Unison students take dancing seriously

Posted on Posted in From The Principal, In The Press, School News

Dance class at Urban Assembly Unison School introduces students to the basic elements of modern dance technique, locomotor movement skills, and dance making. Students explore spatial levels, pathways, and movement qualities, as defined by Laban movement vocabulary. During exploration, improvisation, and choreography students have the opportunity to collaborate in creating movement sentences and dances to share, perform, talk about and write about as reflections in their dance journals. Technology is also utilized in dance class to allow the students to do research, expand upon lesson concepts, document the class and experiences, and to facilitate the completion of specified projects.
